He was practicing law when a grave illness brought him to homeopathy. He started learning homeopathy and later contributed immensely to the science. His contributions include 'Repertory of Anti-psoric Medicines', 'Repertory of Medicines which are not anti-psoric', 'Attempt at Showing the Relative Kinship of Homeopathic Medicines', and many more. All his previous works enriched with his clinical experience were published which is now known to all of us as Therapeutic Pocket Book. Apart from repertories, he also discovered doctrines like 'The doctrine of Complete Symptoms', 'Doctrine of Concomitants', 'Evaluation of Remedies' and 'Concordances'. Dr. Boenninghausen's repertory of Anti-psoric Medicines' is the mother of all repertories available to the homeopathy world today. Boenninghausen died at the ripe age of 79 in 1864.
